Transport, Logistics and Multi-Modal Integration

This program aims to provide participants with an overview of the role of Transport, Logistics and Multi-Modal integration in the country. With India becoming one the top economies in the world and a remarkable growth rate in GDP, the development of logistics infrastructure is of paramount importance to sustain the growth and make significant in the global arena. A large proportion of domestic trade and logistics is still dependent on expensive and inefficient modes of transportation, with logistics sector transitioning from unorganized to organized modes. While this increases cost of the goods sold, it also has opened new opportunities for kickstarting initiatives such as Bharatmala, Sagarmala, PM Gati Shakti, MMLPs, etc. It is thus, important for officers in public service to understand the role of transportation and logistics in creating a positive impact on the economy.

 

1) To understand the role of Manufacturing, Procurement, Transport, Logistics & Multi-Modal Integration for Economic Growth

2) To evaluate the various modes of transportation (viz Road/Rail/Water/Air) and their cost economies in product delivery;

3) To evaluate the various methods of intermediate storage (viz. Warehouses, Factory Stores, Dark Stores, Fulfillment Centres, etc.) and understand their applicability across different sectors (e.g. FMCG/Ecommerce/Automotive, etc.);

4) To understand the role of different initiatives and their applicability within sectors (e.g. ONDC, Sagarmala, MMLPs, ULIP, etc.)

5) To understand the role and need of different business models and their impact on the design for logistics in the age of platform economy (D2C, Omnichannel, etc.) 5) To understand the role of digital transformation and data analytics for the logistics sector

Day1: Overview of Transportation, Logistics & Multi-Modal Integration; Latest Initiatives in Transportation & Logistics, Beer Distribution Game (Simulation)

 

Day2: Role of Transportation in the Economy, Multi-Modal Mixes, Transportation Problems

 

Day3: Storage & Warehousing, Inventory Management

 

Day4: Facility Location, Productivity Measurement, Order Picking Game (Simulation)

 

Day5: Platform Economy, Business Models for Logistics, Digital Transformation

 

Pedagogy:

 

Lectures, Case Studies, Hands on exercises in Excel, Videos

     All AIS (IAS, IPS and IFoS) Officers and organized Group 'A' Officers of such Central Civil Services with minimum 4 years of service as on April 1, 2025 (up to 2020 batch), officers working under the Central Staffing Scheme in the Governement of India and Officers of Central Secretariat Service and Central Secretariat Stenographers Service (of the level of DS/Sr. PPS and above are eligible.

      All AIS (IAS, IPS and IFoS) Officers and organized Group 'A' Officers of such Central Civil Services with minimum 4 years of service as on April 1, 2025 (up to 2020 batch), officers working under the Central Staffing Scheme in the Governement of India and Officers of Central Secretariat Service and Central Secretariat Stenographers Service (of the level of DS/Sr. PPS and above can nominate themselves on the portal of DoPT.
