Class Schedule

• Classes will be conducted for a maximum of 15 hours per week, in an online mode on the Microsoft Team or similar platforms.
• Attendance is compulsory in all courses. Minimum 75% of attendance is required. If the attendance falls below the required 75%, then the grades for the students will downgraded as per the Institute PGP rules as shown in Table below.
• Leave of absence can be granted up to a maximum of 15%.
• Leave of absence due to medical reasons only can be granted up to a maximum of 10%, i.e., 1 out of 10 lectures. The student must produce hospitalization documents and a medical certificate from a registered medical officer.
• If attendance falls below 75% then as per the PGP rule.

Student Learning and Evaluation Process

Teaching Pedagogy

Pedagogy may vary from course to course; however, commonly adopted pedagogy at IIM Mumbai includes concept teaching/discussion with case studies, individual/group presentations, self-learning projects, student presentations, simulation exercises, and business games. The whole purpose of using a specific pedagogy is to provide exposure to the student in understanding the real-life situation, its challenges, and approaches to address the problem. Another objective of the specific pedagogy used by the faculty in a particular course is to make the classes interactive and increase the participation of the students for an enhanced learning experience.

Simulations /Business Games

Simulations/ business games are software programs that mimic real-life business situations. These environments allow students to explore close to the realistic business setting for better decision-making in the given context by applying different policies that they have learned through various courses.

Evaluation Methodology

The performance of participants will be evaluated through a combination of continuous assessment, coursework, and end-term evaluation.

Business leaders/entrepreneurs Talks

Eminent speakers and entrepreneurs from various sectors will be invited to share insights about their entrepreneurial journey, challenges and their respective strategies for driving business growth.

Capstone Project Evaluation

The Program has capstone projects across all the three modules each with different expected outcomes and evaluation pattern.

Venture Blueprint (Capstone I): This project will focus on the application of the learnings from Module 1. The students are expected to present their business idea and plan along with the formation of their management team.

An individual student will be evaluated based on various parameters like problem identification and description, literature review, problem-solving approach/methodology, results and demonstrations, and finally, the presentation and project report preparation. The student has to submit one soft copy of the report to the Institute.

Market Proof (Capstone II): Based on their business idea, the Institute will assign Industry and faculty as the mentor to the respective teams. The teams will work closely with the mentors to prepare a detailed business plan. In addition to the business plan, the team is expected to attract funding for their startups.

An individual student will be evaluated based on various parameters like problem identification and description, literature review, problem-solving approach/methodology, results and demonstrations, and finally, the presentation and project report preparation. The student has to submit one soft copy of the report to the Institute.

Founder's Thesis (Capstone III): Capstone project 3 will focus on the development of prototypes for their business idea along with a detailed budget sheet and revenue/growth model.

The final Founder's Thesis presentations will be evaluated by a panel of industry, academic experts, and investors. At this level, the evaluation of the students will be based on the groups formulated (if within the Program) or on an individual basis if the other team members are not part of the Program. The shortlisted projects will be given an opportunity to incubate their startups through IIM Mumbai support.

Campus Immersion Program

The objective of the campus immersion program is to bring the candidates to the campus and provide them with the opportunity to explore and interact with the Institute faculty directly face-to-face in an offline mode. The institute may provide accommodation, if available, on a payment basis. The program has been carefully designed with two campus immersions with a total duration of one week. The first campus immersion is scheduled in the first module and the second immersion is placed after the completion of the course, which is in module 3. This arrangement will facilitate students’ connection to the next stage of learning through case competitions, expert lectures, role play, face-to-face faculty interaction, etc., enhancing students’ learning experience. Each campus immersion will carry 2 credits, and all the students have to attend both campus immersions as a part of the PGPEx-EIM program requirements. The immersion program at IIM Mumbai campus would cover the following activities:

• Group project title, team, and faculty mentor finalization
• Role-plays, Outdoor learning activities
• Faculty interactions and Sessions by experts
• Alumni / Corporate interaction
• Visit the library and explore the library resources like journal/report/database search techniques, literature review process, etc.
• Campus tour, lab visits and visits to the centers of the institute.
• Networking Dinner

During both campus immersions, students must visit the Institute. For this purpose, the student must pay their own travel costs. Further, during immersion, the student must pay their hostel and mess charges as per the Institute rules.

This comprehensive evaluation approach ensures a balanced assessment, considering conceptual understanding of the topic and its business applications, interpretation skills, documentation, presentation abilities, and knowledge retention, along with ongoing class engagement.

Student Grading and Result

For every course taken by the student, including the group project, capstone project and campus immersion, they are assigned a letter grade on their combined performance in all the assessments. In case of any dispute with evaluation raised by a student relating to grading and evaluation, the decision of the Director or authority appointed by the Director after reverifying the answers and grades allotted to the student will be final and binding. The components of continuous evaluation will have a total weightage of 60%, and the components of final evaluation will have a weightage of 40%. The concerned faculty member will announce the dates for class tests, submission of assignments, and other components of continuous evaluation.

All the examination passing and grading criteria/processes, including the result moderation process, will be the same as per the PGP rules of the institute in force from time to time. Further, grades for all students will be linked with their attendance in the subject classes as per the institute’s existing rules. The computation of Grade Point Average (GPA), Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and Equivalence Formula for Percentage Conversion from CGPA will also be as per the existing rules of the Institute.

Course Successful Completion

The student who completes the program successfully shall be eligible for the award of PGPEx-EIM. Further, depending on the CGPA score, they shall be awarded divisions as per the institute rules and procedures. The maximum period allowed for any student to complete the entire program would normally be 2 years from the date of admission.

In case of any grievances for interpretation of any matter, the existing institutional academic rules shall apply. IIM Mumbai will provide an Ombudsman for resolving grievances. Director IIM Mumbai is the Academic Council Chairperson and the appellate authority for all academic and administrative matters. The decision of the Director shall be final and binding. Any legal dispute will be under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai High Court.
