The resolute courage and self-motivation of establishing examples of highest standards of discipline, competence and service to the nation signifies the exceptional psychological structure of the Officers of the Indian Armed Forces. The officers choosing a second innings after their outstanding service to the nation represent a group of self-driven and motivated workforce who have gained experience of 10 - 30 years of battle-hardened VUCA environment. These officers have worked with diverse clusters and in the equally diverse and challenging environment thus absorbing the art of being flexible, adaptable and resolute at the same time. Our analysis of these officers at IIM Mumbai indicate a bouquet of transferable skills for use in high-performance corporate organisations.
With its domain expertise in training management leaders, IIM Mumbai aims to deliver Techno – Managers who can take on mid/ senior level of corporate leadership. As a combined initiative by Directorate General Resettlement, Ministry of Defence and IIM Mumbai, a six month General Management Programme (GMP) for the Defence Officers is conducted at the Institute to deliver potential corporate leaders.
