ABOUT THE STUDENT WELLNESS CENTRE

The Student Wellness Centre (SWC) at IIM Mumbai envisions a community where holistic mental health and well-being are integral to personal and academic success. The Centre is committed to providing counselling and training to all students, guided by the institute’s visionary goal of cultivating transformative leaders who contribute positively to society.

The Centre exists to help students navigate diverse life changes and challenges in a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.

Objectives

  1. To achieve all-round mental, emotional, and social well-being.
  2. To provide a safe space for individuals to cultivate self-discovery, address mental health concerns, explore and express feelings, examine beliefs, reflect on behavioral patterns, make healthier choices, and embrace a growth mindset.
  3. To provide non-judgmental, unconditional, and genuine support to all stakeholders of the institution.
  4. To help students accept life-changing situations and cope with stress and anxiety.

Typical concerns of students who seek counselling are:

  • Transition and change
  • Stress
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Relationship concerns
  • Uncertainty about values and goals
  • Academic pressure
  • Dealing with new academic patterns
  • Family concerns
  • Issues of grief and loss
  • Lack of motivation; concentration difficulties
  • Others…

The students are invited to share their personal journeys with the assurance of complete confidentiality.

Student Wellness Centre provides

  1. Individual counselling
  2. Group and family psychological interventions
  3. Training and workshops on various mental health–related topics
  4. Preliminary psychological assessments, screenings, and psychiatric referrals
