IIM Mumbai celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2024 at Swamy Vivekananda Hall basement in coordination with the Yoga Day / Fit India Committee as per the instructions received from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Ayush. To promote Yoga, information, and links provided by the Ministry were uploaded on the institute's website. We are grateful to Prof. Manoj Tiwari, Director, IIM Mumbai for his valuable guidance and support in conducting the Programme.
IIM Mumbai has grandly organized the Yoga Day. The program started with the welcome address of Prof. Utpal Chattopadhyay, Chairperson of the International Day of Yoga. Prof. Rauf Iqbal, Dean (Student Affairs) highlighted the importance of Yoga in our daily life. Lt. Cdr. (Mrs.) Nisha Singh, Chief Administrative Officer, IIM Mumbai deliberated about the Yoga Workshop. Yoga is a mind and body practice that can build strength and flexibility. It may also help manage pain and reduce stress. On this occasion, Faculty members, Officers, Staff, PGP, and PhD Students performed Yoga.
The session enthralled the participants with the fundamentals of Yoga, connecting body and mind through the right breathing and aspects of Ashtanga yoga. Participants performed yoga exercises as per the prescribed Common Yoga Protocol. Dr. Apurva Raje and Mrs. Usha Agarwal, Yoga Trainer, Kaivalyadhama, Mumbai, have given the guest a motivational address. They conducted the session to demonstrate and facilitate common yoga protocol for the participants.
In addition to the yoga practice and main session, the Institute Library organized a book display on yoga books. On this occasion, Prof. Utpal Chattopadhyay, Prof. Rauf Iqbal, Lt. Cdr. (Mrs.) Nisha Singh, Prof. Vidyadhar Gedam, Prof. MS Mahapatra, Prof. Veepan Kumar, and Shri Ramotar Kumawat were honored by giving the Tulsi plant. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Md. Aftab Alam, Asstt. Administrative Officer Grade 1 (Hindi).
